The United States Department of War has released video footage of military airstrikes it conducted against terrorist targets in Sokoto State, Nigeria.
The release of the operational video follows the initial confirmation of the strikes earlier by US Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, and a subsequent announcement by President Donald Trump on his Truth Social platform. President Trump stated the action fulfilled a promise to strike militants he accused of targeting innocent Christians.
While US officials, including the US Africa Command, have described the strikes as "deadly" and "powerful," they have not yet released specific details regarding the number of casualties inflicted.
Security analyst Brant Philip provided additional context, suggesting the strikes may have been launched from the guided-missile destroyer USS Paul Ignatius using Tomahawk cruise missiles. The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also confirmed the operation, stating the strikes were successful.
