Amid the swirling, unconfirmed allegations concerning Afrobeat star Davido’s paternity, controversial investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo (known online as Kemi Talks) has launched a fierce counteroffensive against her critics and the Nigerian mainstream media (MSM).
In a recent social media post, Olunloyo accused major media houses of systematic bias, claiming they deliberately ignore her "good works" while rushing to publish negative stories about her. Her statement comes in response to reports that focused on accusations of her impersonating another individual, Anu, in the context of the ongoing Davido paternity narrative.
“Not one media house has reached out to even ask if I was actually impersonating Anu,” Olunloyo stated, challenging the veracity of the impersonation claims. She alleges the media is influenced by powerful interests, directly naming Davido (whose real name is David Adeleke) as a “fraudulent dead head billionaire” who uses his wealth to manipulate the narrative.
Olunloyo framed her position as that of a truth-teller being silenced. She referenced that human rights lawyer Femi Falana had previously asked police to invite her, and that Davido’s father, Adedeji Adeleke, had spoken about the paternity case, arguing these are serious elements the MSM has underreported while focusing on discrediting her.
The core of her defiance is a direct, personal condemnation of the Adeleke family, ending her post with the strong words: “God will punish you Adeleke.”
This public outburst highlights the intensely personal and adversarial nature of the story, which has moved beyond mere celebrity gossip into allegations of media manipulation, financial influence, and a bitter war of reputations. Olunloyo portrays herself as a lone journalist fighting a corrupt system and a powerful family, while her critics view her methods as sensationalistic and unsubstantiated.
The situation remains a complex, he-said-she-said saga with significant online traction. Olunloyo’s latest comments ensure the story will continue to generate heat, raising persistent questions about media responsibility, the power of celebrity, and the fiercely polarized nature of online investigative journalism in Nigeria.
