Ex-Chelsea Youth Player Lamisha Musonda, 33, Reveals He Has Days Left to Live

Former Chelsea youth player Lamisha Musonda has shared a heartbreaking announcement, revealing he is critically ill and expects to have only a few days left to live. The 33-year-old Belgian, who spent two years in Chelsea’s academy alongside his brothers Tika and Charly Musonda, posted an emotional message to social media reflecting on his life and thanking those who have supported him.

“As I realise I only have a few days left, I also realise I had a lot of people by my side and I'll always cherish the memories,” Musonda wrote. “Life is hard, but the view is great.”

He explained that the past two years have been “particularly difficult and challenging,” and that his health has deteriorated to a critical point. “I have to face facts – my health is critical, and I'm now fighting to survive,” he shared in a follow-up post written in French.

Despite the devastating prognosis, Musonda expressed gratitude for his career and the people he met along the way, from teammates and coaches to teachers and bus drivers. “I want to be remembered as someone who didn't fall in love with the adulations. But the good people I met along the way... It's for them, I fight and stay strong.”

After leaving Chelsea in 2014, Musonda played for Belgian side Mechelen, lower-league Spanish clubs, and Congolese giants TP Mazembe, earning nine caps for Belgium’s Under-21 national team before retiring in 2020.

His younger brother Charly also played for Chelsea’s first team and spent time on loan at Celtic. The football community has been sharing messages of support following Musonda’s courageous and poignant posts.
