Nigerian Duo Arrested in India in Multi-Billion Naira Drug Bust

Two Nigerian nationals have been arrested in Delhi, India, following a significant drug bust by local police. The operation, carried out by the Delhi Police Crime Branch, resulted in the seizure of cocaine and other illegal substances estimated to be worth approximately ₦1 billion.

The suspects have been identified as Frank Vitus Ume, 47, and Sunday Otuu, 53. The arrests were made during coordinated raids in south and southwest Delhi, leading to the recovery of 418 grams of cocaine and 925 tablets of MDMA (ecstasy).

According to police, Frank Vitus Ume had a previous narcotics arrest and had been supplying psychotropic substances across Delhi, frequently changing locations to avoid detection. Intelligence gathered from his arrest led investigators to Sunday Otuu, who was subsequently apprehended in the Mehrauli area.

Harsh Indora, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), stated that the arrests were the result of sustained technical and manual surveillance.

Investigations indicate that the drug syndicate was allegedly controlled by a kingpin based in Nigeria, with the substances being distributed through couriers. Authorities have stated that investigations into the broader network are ongoing.
