Nigerian content creator and streamer Peller has publicly apologized to a woman named Oginika following a widely circulated video of a heated exchange between them at a restaurant.
The incident occurred after the woman reportedly asked Peller to lower his volume while he was at an eatery. The streamer reacted strongly to the comment, leading to a verbal confrontation that he later shared online, criticizing her approach.
However, backlash from social media users was swift, with many criticizing Peller for his handling of the situation and for publicly shaming the individual involved.
Bowing to the public pressure, Peller issued an apology in a recent stream. He addressed the woman directly, saying, “That girl that I met in that food place that we exchanged some words, I’m sorry.”
He attributed his reaction to the intense criticism he faces online, explaining, “I’m traumatized. The hate I get online is a lot, and when someone says something negative in real life, it gets to me. Oginika, I’m sorry.”
While offering the apology, Peller also suggested that the woman’s initial comment was unfairly delivered. He added, “But you too no dey talk to people like that, e no fair.”
The apology has sparked mixed reactions, with some accepting his explanation of being overwhelmed by online negativity, while others believe his conditional apology fails to take full responsibility for his public reaction.
