Retired Nigerian Army Colonel Rescued from Kidnappers in Plateau State

Nigerian Army troops have successfully rescued a retired senior officer, Colonel Ajanaku, who was abducted from his home in the Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to security sources, armed men stormed the Colonel's residence opposite the Salvation Army Church on Rukuba Road in the early hours of January 5. The kidnappers later contacted the victim’s wife, demanding a ransom of ₦200 million and threatening to kill him if rescue efforts continued.

Troops were immediately mobilized and tracked the kidnappers through a wildlife park and surrounding rocky terrain. After shifting to covert operations, security forces located and rescued Colonel Ajanaku later that same day in the Rafiki area of Bassa LGA.

The rescued officer is now receiving medical care and is expected to provide intelligence for follow-up operations. Military personnel continue to search nearby forests and suspected hideouts for the fleeing suspects.
