Self-Proclaimed Spiritualist Allegedly Tracks Down, Kills Teen Over Social Media Dispute in Bayelsa

A community in Bayelsa State has been thrown into shock following the brutal killing of a teenage boy allegedly by a self-proclaimed spiritualist, after a disagreement that began on social media turned deadly.

The suspect, identified as Bodmas Prince Kemepadei, also known as Woyin, is accused of tracking the victim from an online argument to the Amassoma community, where he publicly assaulted the boy, leading to his death.

According to witnesses and local accounts, the altercation started with an exchange of words on a social media platform. Instead of ending the dispute online, the suspect reportedly located the boy and carried out a prolonged physical attack in full view of residents. The victim later succumbed to his injuries.

The killing has sparked widespread outrage, with community leaders condemning the act as barbaric and senseless. Many residents expressed concern over the growing trend of online disputes escalating into real-world violence.

Security agencies have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing and the case is being treated as a homicide. Rights advocates are calling for a swift and transparent legal process, emphasizing that no individual—regardless of spiritual claims or local influence—should be above the law.

The incident raises urgent questions about the deadly consequences of unchecked aggression, both online and offline, and the imperative for consistent enforcement of justice to prevent further tragedies.
