The legal team representing Lagos-based Pastor Chris Okafor has publicly challenged his accusers to present any evidence of criminal misconduct to the Nigeria Police or face legal consequences.
At a press briefing in Lagos on Wednesday, lead counsel Ife Ajayi of Sovereignty LP described the series of allegations—including claims of rape, assault, and financial misconduct circulating on social media—as a coordinated campaign of cyberbullying, blackmail, and defamation aimed at destroying his client’s reputation.
The allegations first gained momentum in late 2025, largely driven by actress Doris Ogala and amplified by social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), along with several online platforms.
Ajayi stated that the matter originated from a business dispute in late 2024, after which Ogala began making unsubstantiated claims online. He revealed that Ogala had previously been arrested and charged with cyberstalking, and the case was resolved through a court-approved settlement in which she agreed not to publicly mention Pastor Okafor again.
According to Ajayi, despite this agreement, a new wave of allegations emerged in December 2025, coinciding with the cleric’s wedding. He claimed that during a subsequent police interrogation, Ogala denied some of the most serious accusations attributed to her online.
Ajayi criticized VDM and certain media outlets for promoting what he called “trial by social media,” urging them to report any legitimate allegations through official channels. He confirmed that Pastor Okafor has fully cooperated with police investigations and has submitted counter-evidence to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lagos.
The lawyer issued a direct challenge to Ogala, VDM, and others involved: “If they believe these allegations are true, let them swear to them under oath and present proof to law enforcement.”
Ajayi warned that failure to do so would result in the pursuit of all available legal remedies against those spreading false claims.
