Sheikh Gumi Urges Venezuela to Turn to Islam After U.S. Capture of Maduro

Controversial Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has responded to the U.S. capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro by calling on the Venezuelan people to adopt Islam.

In a Facebook post, Gumi suggested that embracing Islam would provide the country with "the moral rectitude to leave drugs, and the courage to repel the Devil and imperial subjugation." He framed Islam as the only force capable of substituting what he described as the "injustice and hypocrisy" of the current world order.

The statement comes after President Donald Trump announced that U.S. forces had captured Maduro following a large-scale military strike on Venezuela. Gumi, known for his outspoken views on politics and religion, has often blended spiritual counsel with commentary on international affairs.
