Controversial Nigerian singer Habeed Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been arraigned at the Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, on multiple criminal charges including assault, theft, and obstruction of a police officer.
The singer, who was seen in a viral video in police custody over the weekend, faces a nine-count charge as detailed by the Ogun State Police Command. The charges stem from an alleged altercation at his bar in the Iyana Ilogbo area on New Year’s Day, where he is accused of assaulting his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple, alongside police officers and other individuals.
Additional complainants named in the case include Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah. One of the more serious allegations involves the theft of a Mercedes-Benz E300 valued at ₦12 million, belonging to Ileyemi.
During Monday’s court proceedings, two siblings of Ashabi Simple testified as witnesses, though she was not present. The prosecution also accused Portable of obstructing and assaulting a female police inspector, Ogungbe Olayemi, while she was carrying out her official duties.
The presiding judge declined to grant bail, citing the absence of the allegedly assaulted police officer in court. The judge insisted on her presence before considering the bail application and subsequently ordered Portable remanded in custody until a new hearing scheduled for January 19, 2026.
