American singer and media personality Ray J has revealed he is battling severe heart failure, stating his heart is functioning at only about 25% capacity and suggesting doctors have given him a prognosis of months to live.
The 45-year-old artist shared the health update in an emotional Instagram video posted on Sunday, January 25, thanking fans for their prayers after a recent hospitalization.
“I want to thank everybody for praying for me. I was in a hospital. My heart’s only beating like 25%, but as long as I stay focused and stay on the right path, everything will be alright,” Ray J said, later adding, “My health is not OK.”
In the video’s caption, he wrote, “Just almost died!! I’m alive because of your prayers and support!!”
In other live-streamed clips circulating online, Ray J suggested excessive drinking and drug use contributed to his condition. He also expressed gratitude to his sister, singer Brandy, for covering his expenses and mentioned that his parents would accompany him to upcoming medical appointments.
Medical experts indicate that Ray J may be referring to a severely reduced ejection fraction—a measure of how much blood the heart pumps per beat. A normal range is 50–70%; a reading below 30% is often linked to advanced heart failure and serious health risks.
Earlier this month, TMZ reported that Ray J was hospitalized in Las Vegas with severe pneumonia and heart pain—his second serious bout of pneumonia since 2021.
The singer’s health crisis comes amid ongoing personal and legal challenges, including a recent domestic violence arrest and a civil lawsuit filed by Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner.
