Venezuela Orders Security Crackdown on Alleged US Collaborators

The Venezuelan government has issued a sweeping decree ordering security forces to track down and arrest anyone suspected of supporting the recent U.S. military operation that led to the ousting of President Nicolás Maduro.

According to the order, which is part of a nationwide state of emergency, police and security agencies are directed to immediately launch a “national search and capture” of all individuals involved in promoting or backing the U.S. intervention.

While the emergency measures were declared effective from Saturday, the full text was only made public on Monday, clarifying the government’s broad intent to punish dissent. Officials have framed the situation as a matter of national defense, rather than politics.

The decree comes amid continuing pro-government demonstrations in Caracas calling for Maduro's release, and signals a clear warning that expressions of support for the U.S. action could lead to serious repercussions.
