Delta State Commissioner for Works and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of veteran broadcaster Vivian Nkechika, describing her death as a painful loss to the media industry.
In a condolence message issued in Asaba, Aniagwu praised Nkechika—an Assistant Manager in the Programmes Department of Delta Broadcasting Service, Asaba—as a dedicated professional whose distinctive voice and commitment to ethical journalism left a lasting impact on broadcasting in the state.
He noted that her death came as a shock, especially at a time when her experience and mentorship were still greatly needed. Aniagwu extended sympathy to the management and staff of DBS, the Delta State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, and the bereaved family.
The commissioner remembered Nkechika as a disciplined, hardworking, and passionate journalist who contributed significantly to public enlightenment and societal development. He urged colleagues to uphold the legacy of professionalism and integrity she championed throughout her career.
