Father Kills Son Over Apartment Rental for Mother in Delta State

A tragic family dispute in Delta State turned deadly on Sunday when a man identified as Iseleto allegedly stabbed his 23-year-old son, Miracle, to death in the Osubi community of Okpe Local Government Area.

Reports indicate that the conflict arose after Miracle rented a separate apartment for himself and his mother—Iseleto’s wife—in an effort to ease domestic tensions. The father reportedly became enraged by this decision and lured his son into a nearby bush, where he attacked him repeatedly with a dagger.

After the assault, Iseleto fled the scene. The injured Miracle managed to make his way to a road where passersby rushed him to a local hospital. He later died after recounting how his father had tricked and attacked him.

It was further learned that the suspect admitted to the crime in a phone call with his step-daughter. He also reportedly threatened to kill his wife and step-daughter for leaving the marital home.

Community residents described Iseleto as a habitual drunkard and debtor who frequently beat his wife. They alleged that he had also attempted to sexually assault his step-daughter, driving her out of the house when she refused.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, stating, “Confirmed. Suspect is at large.”

An investigation is ongoing as police work to apprehend the fleeing father.
