A 22-year-old loan officer, Olamide Busari, has been arraigned before an Ota Magistrates' Court in Ogun State for allegedly stealing N3.8 million belonging to his employer.
Busari was brought before the court on Wednesday on charges of theft and fraud. He pleaded not guilty to the count preferred against him.
The Allegation
According to the prosecution, the defendant committed the offence on October 21, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m. in Ota. Busari was accused of fraudulently collecting N3.8 million from customers on behalf of Leanha Technology Limited, his employer, and converting the funds to personal use instead of remitting them to the company.
The offence, the prosecutor noted, contravenes Sections 390(6) and 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
Bail and Adjournment
The presiding magistrate admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum. The surety must reside within the court's jurisdiction, be gainfully employed, and provide evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State Government.
The case has been adjourned until February 18 for further hearing.
The defendant remains in custody pending the fulfillment of his bail conditions.
