The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Oyo State has arrested a 28-year-old woman, Kemi Kolawole, for allegedly trafficking a 17-year-old girl overseas for prostitution.
Kolawole, a trader from the Ifeleye Ogunpa area of Ibadan, was taken into custody on January 22 following a report by the victim’s elder sister.
According to the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Samuel Opebiyi, the victim, identified as Ayomide, was lured with promises of employment after being introduced to Kolawole and her husband, Oni Kayode, through a mutual friend. The suspects allegedly transported the teenager to Côte d’Ivoire in November 2025 with the intent of forcing her into prostitution.
Kayode, aged 32, is currently at large, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend him.
The Oyo State NSCDC Commandant, Augustine Padonu, assured that the arrested suspect would be charged to court upon completion of investigations and urged the public to report any suspected human trafficking activities to security agencies.
