A 17-year-old salesgirl, Ihechidere Favour Uka, was allegedly stabbed to death by her employer following a minor disagreement at a cosmetics shop in Lagos on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

According to witnesses and family members, the incident began when Ihechidere returned later than expected after being sent on an errand. A verbal argument escalated, leading to a physical altercation during which the employer, 30-year-old Ibekwe Ezinne Mary, allegedly stabbed the teenager in the chest with a kitchen knife.

Ihechidere succumbed to her injuries despite attempts to save her. Her family described her as a hardworking teen who took the job to support herself and assist her relatives.

The suspect has been arrested and is in police custody, with reports indicating she has confessed to the act. The case has sparked outrage across social media and within the local community, raising concerns about the safety and protection of young workers in informal employment settings.
