Tragedy in Kogi as Missing College Student Found Deceased with Mutilated Body

A 20-year-old student of the Federal College of Education, Okene, Kogi State, has been found dead under harrowing circumstances days after she was reported missing.

The student, Suleiman Rahama Onono, was discovered on Monday, February 2, in the Eika-Adagu community along the Okene-Lokoja highway. According to reports from the scene, her body showed signs of severe mutilation.

Rahama had been reported missing on Saturday, January 24, prompting extensive searches by family, friends, and members of the college community. The search, supported by local security volunteers, ultimately led to the grim discovery.

Police have since evacuated the remains and deposited them at the Okengwe General Hospital morgue for autopsy and preservation. Authorities have launched an investigation into the killing.

Residents of the area, particularly in Camp 2 where the body was found, describe the location as increasingly dangerous and prone to criminal activity. Many are now calling urgently for improved security measures, including the installation of streetlights to deter violence under cover of darkness.

The college community and local residents have expressed profound shock and grief, appealing for justice and enhanced protection for students and citizens alike.
