The Nigerian Army has killed 16 suspected ISWAP terrorists and freed 11 abducted individuals during separate offensive operations in Borno State.
According to a statement from the media information officer of the North-East Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI, troops successfully degraded terrorist capabilities and disrupted logistics networks across the region.
Failed Attack and Counter-Offensive
On February 5, ISWAP elements launched an unsuccessful assault on a forward operating base in Auno. Troops repelled the attack using what the army described as "disciplined firepower and tactical precision."
Four days later, troops in coordination with the civilian joint task force conducted a counter-offensive along the Komala axis in Konduga Local Government Area. The operation extended to the Gidan Kaji axis, resulting in the neutralization of 16 terrorists while several others fled with injuries.
Recovered items included over 20 bicycles, a substantial cache of logistics supplies, weapons, and other materials critical to terrorist operations.
Rescue Operations
On the same day, troops responded to intelligence along the Bukarti axis and arrested suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers transporting large quantities of drugs intended for terrorist networks.
In a separate incident, troops foiled a kidnap attempt along the Buratai-Kamuya road, compelling the abductors to abandon two victims—Mallam Idris Adamu and Mallam Muhammadu Safiyanu—who were safely reunited with their families in Buratai.
Additionally, troops responding to a distress call along the Chibok–Damboa axis rescued nine kidnapped victims.
The army reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and protecting civilian populations across the North-East region.
