UK Court Sentences Nigerian Teen to Life in Prison Over Fatal Stabbing

A 19-year-old Nigerian teenager living in the United Kingdom, Jackson Uwagboe, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of 21-year-old Robert Robinson.

According to a statement from the Metropolitan Police, Uwagboe was convicted at the Old Bailey after being found guilty of killing Robinson during a dispute reportedly linked to a stolen bicycle. The verdict was delivered on February 10.

The court ordered that Uwagboe must serve a minimum of 21 years behind bars before becoming eligible for parole.

Authorities also confirmed that Uwagboe resided on Hamilton Street in Lewisham at the time of the incident.

Co-Defendant Convicted

A co-defendant, Eromosele Omoluogbe, 24, was previously convicted for perverting the course of justice. He was found to have assisted Uwagboe in attempting to flee the country by helping him travel to Heathrow Airport with plans to leave for Nigeria.

In addition, two other individuals — Ryan Wedderburn, 18, and Kirk Harris — were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in May last year for their roles in Robinson’s killing.

Investigation Details

Detective Inspector Neil Tovey, who led the investigation, said the verdict delivers justice for the victim and his family.

According to investigators, Robinson was subjected to a violent attack by multiple assailants armed with knives. Police stated that he was unarmed and already injured when Uwagboe allegedly carried out the fatal assault.

The case has drawn significant attention in the UK, with authorities emphasizing the seriousness of knife-related violence and the consequences for those involved.
