Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital, Honors Friends After Accident

Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from a Lagos hospital following a car accident earlier this week, and has paid a personal tribute to the two friends he lost in the crash.

Joshua was released from Duchess International Hospital on New Year’s Eve after receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the collision. Medical officials confirmed he is clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.

In a moving gesture, Joshua and his mother visited a funeral home in Lagos to pay their final respects to Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, two close friends who tragically died in the accident. The boxer is described as physically recovering well and is expected to remain in Nigeria for several days.

Regional authorities in Lagos and Ogun States acknowledged the widespread concern following the incident and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased. Governors Dapo Abiodun and Babajide Sanwo-Olu also noted the support offered by Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the aftermath.

While an investigation into the crash is ongoing, the focus remains on Joshua’s recovery and the respectful repatriation arrangements being made for his friends. The boxer, who escaped without broken bones, is now resting privately as he mourns his loss and regains his strength.
