Police in Ghana's Oti Region have arrested a 23-year-old man for the alleged murder of his father.
The suspect, identified as Innocent Owusu, is accused of killing his 59-year-old father, Peter Owusu, at the family's residence in Likpe Abrani on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was beheaded.
Following the incident, the suspect reportedly fled the scene but was later apprehended by police at a hideout in a nearby forest, based on gathered intelligence.
Authorities have recovered the victim's remains, which have been deposited at the Hohoe Government Hospital Mortuary for autopsy. The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with the investigation and will be processed according to the law.
The Oti Regional Police Command commended the local community for their cooperation, which aided in the swift arrest.
