Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has commented on the arrest of a terrorist linked to a recent mosque bombing in Borno State.
In a post on his official X account, Olayinka shared an image of the detained suspect, who is reported to be young. He stated that the individual was one of the perpetrators behind an improvised explosive device (IED) attack on a mosque in Maiduguri's Gamboru market, which killed five worshippers and injured 32 others.
According to Olayinka, the suspect was captured while en route to spy on another mosque in Damaturu, Yobe State. “Today, his evil moves ended,” he wrote, highlighting the interruption of further planned violence.
The Nigerian Army has confirmed detaining two individuals in connection with the attack.
