A Las Vegas judge has sentenced adult film star Devyn Michaels, 47, to 28 years to life in prison for the 2023 murder and decapitation of her ex-husband, Johnathan Willette. The sentence, delivered on January 8, 2026, brings a shocking case marked by a tangled relationship and a brutal crime to a close.
Michaels was convicted in November of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon for the killing, which took place in Willette's Henderson home in August 2023. Prosecutors presented a case built on a volatile love triangle, phone records, and Michaels' own admissions to police. In a recorded interview played for the jury, Michaels stated she struck Willette in his bedroom, after which he stopped moving.
Authorities said Willette's body was discovered covered in chemicals, and his severed head was never found, despite evidence suggesting it was disposed of in a trash bin near Michaels' Las Vegas residence. The suspected murder weapon also remains missing.
Complicating the case further was Michaels' marital status at the time: she was married to Deviere Willette, the victim's adult son. Michaels testified that both marriages were "of convenience," while the defense attempted to shift blame to Deviere. Prosecutors, however, argued there was no evidence placing him at the crime scene.
The sentencing ensures Michaels will not be eligible for parole until she is approximately 70 years old.
