American Rapper DDG Claims Nigeria is Safer Than the United States

American rapper DDG has challenged Western media portrayals of Nigeria as dangerously unstable, stating that the country is “nowhere near” as dangerous as the United States.

Speaking from Lagos, where he is currently on vacation, DDG pointed to gun violence and gang activity as more prevalent issues in the U.S. “I honestly think America is the most dangerous country,” he said. While acknowledging security challenges in Nigeria, he encouraged foreigners to visit and form their own opinions.

The rapper also addressed misconceptions about Nigerian culture, dismissing warnings he received about local food and water. He specifically praised Nigerian jollof rice as highly nutritious, countering narratives he described as inaccurate.
