Anthony Joshua Pays Final Respects to Friends Before Their Repatriation

In a private and emotional farewell, former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua visited a Lagos funeral home to pay his last respects to his two close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, before their repatriation to the United Kingdom.

According to sources at TOS Funeral Home, Joshua insisted the remains be returned from the airport so he could see his friends one final time before their departure. Accompanied by his mother and under heavy security, Joshua arrived at the funeral home on Wednesday, where he calmly viewed the bodies for about ten minutes before leaving.

Repatriation Routing Explained

The Chief Executive Director of TOS Funeral Home, Debayo TOS, explained why the bodies were routed through Istanbul, Turkey, rather than flying directly to London. He cited lengthy British Airways protocols for transporting human remains, stating that the required approvals from UK funeral homes could take several days. Given the urgency, the funeral home opted for the faster option of routing the remains via Istanbul.

The two friends died in a car crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway earlier this week. Joshua, who survived with minor injuries, was reportedly seated in the rear of the vehicle at the time of the collision.
