Nigerian Air Force Launches Sustained Airstrikes Against Terrorist Camps

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has escalated aerial operations against terrorist groups in the country's northeast and northwest, carrying out coordinated, intelligence-led strikes between January 1–2, 2026.

According to a statement from the NAF's Director of Public Relations, Ehimen Ejodame, the campaign targeted identified hideouts, supply routes, and assembly points to disrupt terrorist logistics and movement. The operations were conducted under Operation HADIN KAI in the northeast and Operation FASAN YAMMA in the northwest.

Targeted Strikes in the Northeast

In the northeast, precision strikes were carried out on well-concealed enclaves within the Timbuktu Triangle, specifically at Abirma and Chiralia. These locations were identified as active sites for improvised explosive device (IED) production and attack planning. Follow-up strikes also hit a terrorist storage and coordination hub in the Mandara Mountains.

Operations in the Northwest

Simultaneously, in Katsina State, air assets engaged a large convoy of terrorists traveling on motorcycles at a forest convergence point. Post-strike assessments confirmed the destruction of multiple motorcycles, weapons, and the neutralization of several fighters.

The NAF emphasized that these multi-theater operations demonstrate its rapid-response capability and commitment to systematically dismantling terrorist networks while supporting ground troops. The Air Force pledged to continue the campaign with "precision, persistence and professionalism."
