Atiku’s Son Defects to APC, Declares Tinubu Unbeatable in 2027

YOLA – Abba Atiku, the son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and publicly declared that no political party or candidate can defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Abba Atiku, who currently serves as the Adamawa State Commissioner for Works and Energy Development under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration, formally registered as an APC member at the Gwadabawa Ward in Yola North Local Government on Monday.

Praise for Tinubu’s Leadership

In his remarks after receiving his membership card, Abba praised President Tinubu’s administration for what he described as merit-based and inclusive governance.

“I want to make it very clear that nobody or any political party can stop President Bola Tinubu from returning to Aso Rock come 2027,” he stated. “Nigerians have seen his good work; he is not a tribalist, he doesn’t make appointments based on religion or region, but his decisions are purely on merit.”

He cited nationwide infrastructural and human development as key motivations for his defection and called for broader support for the president beyond party lines.

APC Chieftains Welcome Move

APC leaders in Adamawa State hailed Abba’s defection as a significant boost. Alhaji Isa Bagalti, the party’s Zonal Vice Chairman for Adamawa Central, stated that the move dispels any notion that the APC could lose in 2027.

“It is now clear to people that there is no party in Nigeria or presidential candidate that can face our president at the poll come 2027,” Bagalti said.

Another APC chieftain, Alhaji Jamil Yusuf, dismissed other presidential hopefuls as “wishful thinkers,” asserting that President Tinubu has no credible rival.

Political Context

Abba Atiku’s defection highlights ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections. His father, Atiku Abubakar, remains a presidential aspirant but now under the banner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), without any of his sons in the party.

The move is seen as both a personal political decision and a symbolic reflection of the APC’s growing consolidation of influence across party lines.
