Business Magnate Chief Adebutu Arrives in Style at Oba of Lagos Palace

LAGOS – Renowned Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, Chief Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu, popularly known as “Baba Ijebu,” made a grand entrance at the Iga Idunganran Palace of the Oba of Lagos on Saturday, arriving in a custom Mercedes-Maybach S 580 luxury sedan.

The business magnate attended a chieftaincy conferment ceremony held by His Royal Majesty, where several distinguished Lagosians were honored for their contributions to the state.

A Vehicle Fit for Royalty

Chief Adebutu’s Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, finished in a distinctive two-tone Obsidian Black and sand color scheme, featured the personalized license plate “Odole 1.” The plate references the Odole Oodua chieftaincy title conferred upon him by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, in October 2019.

The luxury sedan is equipped with 24-inch wheels, a Maybach-specific grille, and enhanced rear-seat legroom, complete with massaging seats and a premium Burmester audio system. Under the hood, the S 580 is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 496 horsepower.

Celebrating a Life of Enterprise

Chief Adebutu, who celebrated his 90th birthday in October 2025, is the founder of Premier Lotto Limited, Nigeria’s largest lottery operator, famously known as “Baba Ijebu.” His presence at the palace event underscores his enduring status as one of the nation’s most prominent and respected business figures.
