New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) chieftain Buba Galadima has declared that President Bola Tinubu would lose the 2027 presidential election if it is conducted freely and fairly.
Speaking on Trust TV’s *Daily Politics*, Galadima dismissed the impact of recent defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that no APC candidate could secure the people’s mandate under credible electoral conditions.
Farmer Discontent Central to Argument
Galadima anchored his prediction on widespread dissatisfaction among rural dwellers and farmers, who he said constitute the majority of Nigeria’s population. He accused the federal government of undermining agriculture through policies that have increased the cost of farm inputs such as fertilizer.
“Farmers constitute the majority of the Nigerian population. And none of them, no farmer, will vote for an APC government,” he asserted.
He warned that reduced farming activity could lead to increased hunger and insecurity, further weakening the ruling party’s prospects.
Reiterates Stance on 2019 Election
The NNPP stalwart also repeated his long-standing claim that Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won the 2019 presidential election, not former President Muhammadu Buhari.
“I can swear by the Quran that Abubakar won that election on adult suffrage,” Galadima stated, while clarifying that his position does not mean he is endorsing Atiku for 2027.
Galadima’s comments come amid early positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections and reflect opposition confidence in capitalizing on current economic realities. His emphasis on agricultural policy underscores a strategic focus on rural voters, who are often decisive in Nigerian elections.
