Cameroon Defeats South Africa 2-1 to Advance to AFCON Quarterfinals

Cameroon secured a place in the Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over South Africa in Rabat.

The Indomitable Lions took the lead against the run of play in the 34th minute when Stoke City defender Junior Tchamadeu scored from a poorly cleared corner. They doubled their advantage early in the second half through Christian Kofane's powerful header.

South Africa dominated possession and created several chances, including a disallowed Lyle Foster goal for offside. A late lifeline came in the 88th minute when substitute Evidence Makgopa pulled one back, but it wasn't enough to prevent their elimination.

Cameroon, unbeaten in the tournament so far, will now face host nation Morocco in the quarterfinals after they edged past Tanzania earlier in the day.
