A Federal Capital Territory High Court has issued an interim order restraining the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) from acting on the revocation of a plot of land in the upscale Maitama district of Abuja.
The order, delivered by Justice Bello Kawu on December 22, 2025, also bars the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) from enforcing a revocation notice for Park No. 2008, Cadastral Zone A06, in Maitama. The ruling followed an ex-parte application by Nanet Hotels Limited, the claimant in the suit, which is challenging the land's revocation as communicated in a July 2025 letter.
Justice Kawu's order explicitly prevents the defendants from "giving effect to, acting upon, enforcing, implementing or taking any step whatsoever" based on the revocation notice until the substantive motion is heard. The court further restrained them from "ejecting, harassing, intimidating, disturbing, sealing, demolishing, reallocating or otherwise interfering" with the claimant's possession of the property.
Additionally, the Inspector-General of Police and the Nigeria Police Force were directed not to provide security for any attempt to disturb the claimant's occupation of the land. The court ordered all parties to maintain the status quo.
Following the order, Nanet Hotels Limited, through its lawyers Ojukwu Chikaosolu & Co., issued a public notice on January 20, 2026, warning all politicians, public officeholders, developers, and investors to refrain from any transactions concerning the disputed land. The notice stated that any dealings with the land would be undertaken at the individual's own risk, given the active lawsuit and binding court orders protecting the property.
