Defence Headquarters Names 16 Officers Indicted in Alleged Coup Plot Against Tinubu

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has released the identities of 16 military officers implicated in an alleged plot to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu.

The officers were indicted following an investigation by a Special Investigative Panel, which found their actions "inconsistent with the ethics, values and professional standards expected of members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria."

Panel Findings and Next Steps

The Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, announced on Monday that the panel had concluded its work and that the accused personnel would face a military Court Martial in accordance with established regulations.

He described the process as disciplinary, aimed at preserving internal discipline, cohesion, and operational effectiveness within the armed forces.
