The family of 35-year-old Ogechukwu is demanding justice after she was allegedly killed by her fiancé, Chibuike Valentine Anaikpe, in a tragic incident last December.
According to her brother, Chinonso Mmadubugwu, who spoke with The Punch, the events unfolded on December 8th. Ogechukwu had told their mother she was visiting Anaikpe, who lived nearby and had complained of a fever. Later that night, he called again saying he felt worse, prompting Ogechukwu to go to his home to care for him.
When she could not be reached the next morning and Anaikpe was also unresponsive, the family grew worried. After discovering Anaikpe was not at the medical facility he claimed to be visiting, they went to his locked apartment. Following police advice, they forced the door open and made a grim discovery.
“The guy was not there, and she was the only one inside the apartment, lying on the bed,” Chinonso stated. “Then he dropped a written note on her before running away.” The note, written in Pidgin, read: “This nigga dey owe us. We track am down, kill him woman, kidnap am go.”
The family immediately contacted the police without disturbing the scene. Ogechukwu was later confirmed dead at a hospital and her body was moved to a mortuary. Police have verified the death, but Anaikpe remains at large.
