Florida Family Finds Alligator Taking a Dip in Their Pool

A family in Naples, Florida, received an unexpected late-night visitor when an alligator was discovered swimming in their backyard pool.

Rob Emhoff said his wife was letting the dog out around 1 a.m. when she heard a splash. “We saw this huge shadow become… this crazy striped alligator,” Emhoff recounted. The large reptile was seen moving around the deep end and even lingered near the basketball hoop.

The Emhoffs called Collier County’s non-emergency line, and a trapper arrived within about 10 minutes. After a brief struggle—during which the alligator hissed and thrashed its tail—the nearly eight-foot-long gator was safely captured and removed.
