Ighalo Analyzes Osimhen vs. Akor Adams: "Every Time He is Always Trying to Fight"

Former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has compared the playing styles of two of Nigeria’s leading forwards, Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams, following their standout performances at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Both strikers scored in Nigeria's 4-0 victory over Mozambique, securing a spot in the quarter-finals. Speaking after the match, Ighalo praised Adams for his work rate and selfless play, expressing satisfaction that the striker’s efforts were rewarded with a goal.

Ighalo then highlighted the key differences between the two attackers. He described Osimhen as a "different kind of striker," known for his speed, while characterizing Adams as a physical and combative presence.

"Victor is a different kind of striker to Akor. He is the kind of striker that likes to keep the ball, the striker that likes to bully and fight," Ighalo said during a SuperSport broadcast.

He added that Adams’ physical approach is evident throughout a match, noting, "Every time he is always trying to fight, and when he gets the chance he shoots."

Nigeria will rely on the contrasting strengths of both players as they prepare for a crucial quarter-final clash against Algeria.
