LOKOJA, KOGI – Units from the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have conducted successful counter-insurgency operations in Kogi State, resulting in the elimination of armed elements and the arrest of a suspected logistics provider.
Acting on verified intelligence regarding militant movement from the Adankolo area towards Agbadu Bunu, troops established a strategic ambush at a known crossing point in Kabba Bunu Local Government Area. The operation led to an engagement with the militants, resulting in the neutralization of two individuals and the recovery of one AK-47 rifle.
In a related operation, following intelligence reports of militant activity near Saminaka village in Yagba West Local Government Area, joint patrols with local vigilantes were conducted. Upon arrival, the village was found deserted. Troops proceeded to search the adjacent forests and routes, leading to a further engagement with militants in the area.
During this operation, a suspect, identified as Sunday Adedotun from Odo Eri village, was apprehended on a local farmland. He was allegedly transporting cartons of energy drinks, soft drinks, bottled water, and harvested produce, claiming to be assisting farmers. The suspect is currently in custody and under investigation for suspected ties to militant logistics networks.
Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, Commander of the 12 Brigade, commended the troops for their professionalism, courage, and swift action. He reaffirmed the military's commitment to maintaining intense patrols, ambushes, and intelligence-based operations to disrupt criminal activities and ensure security in the region.
