Police Inspector Kills Colleague, Shoots Another in Port Harcourt

A Police Inspector, identified as Victor Okus, shot two fellow officers in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Sunday, January 18, 2026, resulting in one death and one injury.

According to the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, the officers—all attached to the 17 Police Mobile Force—were on duty at a Next Cash and Carry Supermart in Trans-Amadi when the incident occurred.

The deceased officer, Inspector Ibrahim Sani, was shot in the head and neck area and later died from his injuries. His body has been deposited at the Military Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy.

Inspector Daniel Dauda, the second victim, is currently receiving treatment at Nopsam Hospital and is in stable condition.

The suspect, Inspector Victor Okus, was immediately arrested and is in police custody. The State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, has ordered a thorough investigation into the shooting.

Inspector Okus is set to face an Orderly Room Trial before being formally charged in court. The police command has extended its condolences to the family of the deceased officer.
