Controversial street-hop singer Portable has launched a fierce critique against Nigeria's top music stars, accusing them of monopolizing the industry and hindering the rise of new talent.
The artist, who recently returned to social media following his release from jail, made the allegations during a live Instagram session. He specifically named Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and Olamide, stating they have "been at the top for over 10 years and are blocking the way for other artists to come up."
Portable further accused the elite group of cultivating false public images, suggesting that the luxurious lifestyles they project are often exaggerated. He claimed that high-value items, such as jewelry, are sometimes gifted but presented as personal purchases.
"Wizkid, Olamide, Davido, and Burna Boy have been at the top for over 10 years and blocking the way for other artistes to come up," he stated. "They also lie a lot; they can say they bought a chain for 1 billion dollars, whereas it might have been given to them for free."
These comments add another layer to Portable's history of provocative public statements and come amid ongoing debates about longevity, influence, and opportunity within the competitive Afrobeats scene.
