POS Operator Shot Dead During Robbery in Benin City

A 38-year-old Point of Sale (POS) operator, Raphael Eletanye, was shot and killed by armed robbers along Murtala Muhammed Way in Benin City, Edo State, on Saturday night.

Witnesses reported that the assailants, traveling in an unregistered white minibus, targeted Eletanye around 9:50 p.m. It is believed he was shot after resisting the robbery and struggling to retain his cash bag.

Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the incident, stating that preliminary investigations indicate the victim was shot in the thigh before the robbers fled with an unspecified sum of money.

Despite being rushed to the hospital, Eletanye was pronounced dead. The state Commissioner of Police has ordered a thorough investigation and urged the public to provide any relevant information to assist in apprehending the suspects.
