President Tinubu Congratulates Nigerian Artists for Dominant AFRIMA 2025 Wins

President Bola Tinubu has lauded a roster of Nigerian musical talents for their outstanding achievements at the 2025 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), celebrating their contribution to the country’s cultural prestige on the continental stage.

The prestigious award ceremony took place on Sunday night at the Eko Hotels and Suites Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos, showcasing a dominant performance by Nigerian artists across several major categories.

Standout Performances and Major Honors

Afrobeats superstar Rema was the night’s biggest winner, securing three of the ceremony's most coveted awards: ‘Artiste of the Year,’ ‘Best Male Artiste in Western Africa,’ and ‘Best African Artiste in RnB and Soul.’

Grammy-winning icon Burna Boy added to his legendary status by claiming the ‘Album of the Year’ award for his acclaimed project ‘No Sign of Weakness’. He also shared the ‘Best African Collaboration’ award with fast-rising star Shallipopi.

Shallipopi further solidified his breakout year by winning the highly competitive ‘Song of the Year’ category for his hit single ‘Laho’.

Broad Celebration of Nigerian Talent

The celebration of Nigerian excellence extended beyond the top prizes. Other notable winners included Qing Madi, Yemi Alade, and Chella, while music industry veterans and founders of the iconic Kennis Music, Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo Adeneye, were also honored for their lifetime contributions to African music.

President Tinubu, in his commendation, highlighted the artists' success as a reflection of Nigeria’s vibrant creative energy and its influential role in shaping global pop culture.
