Son of Works Minister David Umahi Enters Local Government Race in Ebonyi

Abakaliki, Ebonyi State – Osborn Umahi, son of the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has formally joined the race to become the next Chairman of Ohaozara Local Government Area.

On Friday, he obtained the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination and expression of interest forms at the party's state secretariat in Abakaliki. He was accompanied by a large entourage, including current and former State Executive Council members, former council chairmen, local stakeholders, and numerous supporters.

The party’s State Executive Committee, led by Chairman Stanley Okoro-Emegha, received him warmly. Okoro-Emegha praised Osborn as “an intelligent and dynamic young politician” with the capability to drive development in the area. He also highlighted Governor Francis Nwifuru’s commitment to youth inclusion in governance.

Speaking to reporters, Osborn Umahi thanked the people of Ohaozara for their nomination and outlined his key priorities: human capital development, grassroots projects, infrastructure, and security. He pledged to continue the infrastructural legacy of his father and to justify the confidence placed in him by the governor and the party.

The local government elections in Ebonyi State are scheduled for August.
