Super Eagles Winger Samuel Chukwueze Mourns Mother's Passing After Brief Illness

Super Eagles and Fulham winger Samuel Chukwueze is mourning the death of his mother, who passed away after a period of illness.

The news was confirmed by Chukwueze’s brother, David, in emotional posts shared on his Instagram story on Thursday.

“Can’t even post say RIP mom,” he wrote. “My forever love just left me without saying goodbye. You didn’t even carry your grandchild.”

Although the family has not disclosed the exact cause of death, sources close to them indicate she had been unwell for some time. Throughout the first half of the football season, Chukwueze—who is on loan from AC Milan to Fulham—reportedly traveled frequently between England and Italy to be with her during her treatment.

This loss comes just days after Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi also lost his father in a road accident, marking a difficult period for the Nigerian national team.

Chukwueze, 26, recently represented Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where the team was eliminated in the semi-finals by Morocco. Despite facing criticism for a missed penalty in that match, he has returned to club form, scoring in his first appearance for Fulham after the tournament.
