2Baba Reaffirms Political Ambition, Says Dream "Definitely Alive"

Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Baba or 2Face, has reaffirmed his desire to venture into active politics, stating that the ambition is still very much alive.

Speaking on the *Mic On* podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, the veteran singer linked his political interest to his long-standing civic engagement, particularly his “Vote No Fight” election violence prevention campaign.

“It’s definitely alive,” 2Baba stated when asked about his political aspirations. “For over so many years, I spearheaded a campaign called ‘Vote No Fight’… We made [people] cooperate and behave themselves during elections.”

While he did not specify a particular office or timeline, he hinted at future possibilities, saying, “Let’s keep our fingers crossed on that.”

Currently, 2Baba holds an appointment as Technical Adviser on Entertainment and Community Outreach to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia—a role he accepted in 2025. He described the position as an opportunity to contribute to “nation-building” and “state-building.”

Though not a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), he acknowledged that his partner, Honourable Natasha, is actively involved in politics. “My woman right now is a politician… She’s doing quite well,” he noted.

This isn’t the first time 2Baba has expressed political interest. In 2018, he announced plans to run for office, urging well-meaning Nigerians to participate in governance. Beyond music and politics, he also serves as a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and runs a humanitarian foundation.
