ADC Aims to Register 14 Million Members Ahead of 2027 Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced an ambitious plan to register at least 14 million members across Nigeria as part of a strategic push to become a major political force in the country.

The party's National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, disclosed this goal during a South-West stakeholders' meeting held in Ibadan, Oyo State. The former Osun State governor stated that the ADC is undertaking a deliberate membership drive to attract Nigerians dissatisfied with the current political landscape.

"Our goal is to bring in Nigerians who are ready to work for genuine progress. This time, we want to separate the wheat from the chaff by ensuring that only committed and credible people join the party," Aregbesola said.

He described the 14-million-member target as ambitious but achievable through coordinated grassroots mobilization, adding that the party is prepared to invest necessary resources to build a robust nationwide structure.

Strengthening Party Structures

As part of its reorganization efforts, Aregbesola directed newly inaugurated leaders in the South-West to establish full operational leadership teams across all states in the zone within two weeks.

The party also unveiled plans to form a "Grand Assembly of Genuine Progressives," a regional political assembly comprising 100 leaders from each of the six South-West states. The assembly is intended to serve as a platform for progressive leaders and will include representatives from youth and women groups.

In his acceptance speech, the ADC's new National Vice Chairman (South-West), Akinbowale Omole, assured stakeholders of the executive's readiness to reposition the party across Yorubaland.

The meeting concluded with the formal inauguration of several national and zonal officers from the South-West region, marking a step in the party's broader strategy to deepen its influence ahead of future elections.
