Analyst: Hamas Loses Leverage as Israel Recovers All Hostages

Israeli analyst Alex Traiman has stated that Hamas no longer holds bargaining power following Israel’s recovery of all remaining hostages—both living and deceased—from the October 7 attacks. In a recent discussion, the JNS CEO argued this development grants Israel greater operational freedom in Gaza and closes a painful chapter for the country.

Traiman highlighted the return of every captive as a strategic and psychological victory, noting that hostage recovery had been a central point of domestic and international pressure. “Netanyahu has succeeded in bringing every last hostage home,” he said, framing it as an achievement that removes a key element of Hamas’s influence.

With no hostages left to recover, Traiman suggested Israel’s focus may now shift firmly toward disarmament efforts in Gaza, whether through negotiated agreements or continued military action. He pointed to Israel’s existing control over large sections of the territory and described its military campaign as “methodical,” though he acknowledged that regional tensions with Iran could affect the pace of operations.

The assessment comes amid reports of ongoing clashes in Gaza, including Israeli strikes in Rafah targeting senior commanders and weapons facilities. Traiman also referenced potential threats from other Iran-aligned groups, such as Hezbollah, should regional conflict escalate.
