A 27-year-old man in Queensland, Australia, has been charged with hundreds of child abuse offences after police discovered 23,000 sexually explicit images and videos on his computer.
According to Queensland Police Chief Superintendent Denzil Clark, detectives identified 459 victims between the ages of 7 and 15 from both Australia and overseas. The alleged crimes occurred between 2018 and 2025, with the suspect accused of grooming children on popular social media and gaming platforms.
Police allege the man created fake online profiles to coerce and threaten young people into sending explicit material. He has been charged with 596 separate offences, including over 200 counts of producing child abuse material and 87 counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child online.
Authorities described the case as “extremely concerning and disturbingly offensive,” noting the significant trauma such crimes inflict on young victims. The arrest comes amid increased efforts in Australia to protect children online, including recent legislation banning children under 16 from several major social media platforms.
