'I Drank Poison to End the Pain': TikToker's Harrowing Rape Account Triggers Massive Manhunt as Alleged Attacker Boasts 'My Father Will Bury the Case'

Lagos DSVA and police launch urgent operation to locate survivor Mirabel after she names attacker 'Priston' who allegedly confessed, threatened, and promised to return in four years

A young TikToker's traumatic account of being sexually assaulted in her own home has sparked an urgent city-wide search by Lagos authorities, after the alleged attacker reportedly taunted her with messages boasting that his wealthy family would bury any legal case and promised to return for her in four years.

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) confirmed Tuesday that it is "actively making efforts" to locate the survivor, identified online as Mirabel (@mirab351 on TikTok), following a series of distressing videos that have since gone viral under the trending hashtag #StopRapingWomen .

The Knock That Changed Everything

In a video posted Monday, Mirabel, visibly struggling to contain her emotions, recounted the events of Sunday, February 15. She explained that she has long suffered from insomnia and had consumed alcohol around 6 a.m. in an attempt to sleep .

Around 9 a.m., she heard knocking at her door. Assuming it was a neighbor, she opened it .

"Immediately I opened the door, I got pushed back. I hit my head on the fridge, and I passed out," she said .

When she regained consciousness, the nightmare had begun. "There was a man over me. There was cloth stuffed in my mouth," she recounted. With most neighbors likely at church, her muffled cries went unheard .

She later noticed she was bleeding profusely. Initially mistaking it for her period, she soon discovered a more sinister truth: the attacker had used a blade on her .

The 'Priston' Messages

The horror didn't end with the assault. Mirabel later received a message request from an Instagram account bearing the name "Priston"—an account with no followers and no following . The sender confessed to the crime.

"I'm sure you don't know me because you decided to close your eyes even after waking up," the message allegedly read. "We have met twice, and you kept ignoring me… I had to pay boys to stop the empty bike [so you would wait]" .

The attacker described the assault in graphic detail, chillingly noting that he used a blade to "simulate me being the first person there" .

Then came the threats.

"But let me tell you, my father has the money to bury the case right before it gets to court, so don't bother, my darling," the message warned. "And besides, you can't find me" .

In an unspeakably cruel twist, the message concluded with a promise to return: "In the nearest future, maybe four to five years, we would meet again, and we would date. I love you, don't see me as a bad person, okay? You turned me down twice" .

'I Took Sniper'

The psychological weight proved too much to bear. In a follow-up video on Tuesday, Mirabel revealed she had attempted suicide by consuming Sniper, a toxic pesticide .

Her voice labored and weak, she explained that a friend had found her in the backyard and rushed her to the hospital .

"I am too tired, I can't respond to the message. I will respond when I get better, thank you," she wrote

Authorities Spring Into Action

The videos sparked immediate outrage and action. The Lagos State DSVA issued a public statement confirming it had "taken note of the multiple tags and public concerns" and was urgently trying to reach the survivor to "offer immediate support and appropriate intervention" .

"We are actively making efforts to reach the survivor to offer immediate support and appropriate intervention, and ascertain her location," the agency stated .

The Lagos State Police Command's spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed on X that the case has been referred to the command's Gender Unit for a thorough investigation. She added that she had personally reached out to Mirabel through her TikTok handle, hoping the survivor would respond to assist the police.

DSVA Executive Secretary Titilola Adeniyi-Vivour emphasized the state government's zero-tolerance stance on sexual violence. "Sexual assault is a crime. Every survivor deserves protection, care, support, and justice. All reports are treated with utmost confidentiality and urgency" .

The agency has urged anyone with credible information that could help locate Mirabel safely to send a direct message to any of its official social media channels .

For those seeking assistance or wishing to report cases, DSVA provided multiple contact channels: 08137960048, 08000333333, USSD *6820# (MTN), WhatsApp AI Chatbox at 0812-893-7058, and the online reporting portal at www.ekoselfreport.ng .

A City's Outrage

The hashtag #StopRapingWomen has dominated X (formerly Twitter), with thousands calling for justice and systemic change. The case has struck a nerve, highlighting the terrifying vulnerability of individuals in their own homes and the audacity of perpetrators who believe they are untouchable.

This incident comes just days after another TikTok user, Fems (@femsbaby_x), reported being sexually assaulted alongside a friend following a deceptive modeling job. That case is now being actively pursued by authorities after public outcry .

The Search Continues

As of Tuesday evening, authorities had not publicly confirmed contact with Mirabel. The DSVA has promised to provide updates as the situation develops .

For a city watching in horror, the hope is that Mirabel is found safe, that she receives the support she desperately needs, and that the person who sent those chilling messages—whoever he is—learns that no amount of money can "bury" justice when a society refuses to look away.
