“I Would Rather Die Than Get Married,” Declares Nigerian Woman in Viral Video

A Nigerian woman has sparked discussion online after firmly stating her complete rejection of marriage and motherhood.

In a widely shared video, she expressed that she has no desire to marry any man, regardless of his character. She emphasized a preference for platonic friendships over romantic partnerships, stating that the idea of sharing a home with a man feels unbearable and “like a death threat” to her.

The woman also firmly dismissed societal pressure to have children, declaring that she will never bring kids into the world.

She said in part: “I’d rather be dead than be married… if I was faced with the options marriage or death, my dear, I am walking straight to my own death… I don’t want to marry a man. I didn’t say I don’t want to marry bad men, I said a man… I can’t just imagine living under the same roof with a man. That sounds like a death threat to me.”
