The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced Tuesday that it has killed the head of Hamas's sniper unit in Beit Hanoun, a senior commander linked to the deaths of five Israeli soldiers during ongoing operations in the northern Gaza Strip.
According to an IDF statement, the targeted elimination was conducted based on precise and actionable intelligence. The commander was allegedly responsible for orchestrating multiple sniper attacks against Israeli troops operating in the area.
Strategic Blow to Hamas Capabilities
"The terrorist was directly responsible for the deaths of five of our soldiers and had planned and executed numerous sniper attacks against IDF forces in the area," the military said. "This strike eliminates a central element of Hamas's sniper capabilities in Beit Hanoun."
Beit Hanoun, located in northern Gaza, has emerged as a critical battleground in the current conflict. IDF forces have been conducting systematic ground maneuvers in the city aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure and neutralizing operatives posing threats to Israeli security.
